Your motivation, any academic or industry qualifications you have and your work experience within the IT industry or in other fields will be considered.
- Course content:
This course is aimed at mature students who are interested in moving into a career in IT or those already working in IT who wish to improve their technical skills. If you’ve already done some computing-based study or gained your own e-skills experience, the Foundation Degree in IT for E-Business is designed to take your IT expertise to the next level.
The programme provides valuable IT skills with a strong business focus and specialism in networking.
The units are:
• IT Toolbox: Exploring the use of IT systems to solve problems and provide IT based services
• Four units mapped to Cisco Networking Academy Program, semesters 1-4: training for CCNA
• Introduction to Programming
• Two units on Network Software taught using Microsoft Official Academic Curriculum courses
• Two units on Systems Analysis and Design
• Professional Skills
• Two project units
• Data Server Technology – designing and managing databases

Fees are set by Kingston University. For 2012/13 the fees are £6000
- Course Structure:
A high proportion of work-related learning which allows students to continue in full time employment whilst studying for the foundation degree is a key feature of this programme. For those seeking employment, work-related learning will be attained through case studies.
- Course resources:
The New Technology Institute facilities give students access to the latest IT software and hardware with an enhanced connection to the internet, video conferencing and electronic whiteboards.
- Assessment:
A mixture of online tests, written exams and coursework
- Next step:
- On successful completion you will be prepared for CompTIA, CISCO and Microsoft industry exams. Students may wish to go on to a one year top up couse at Kingston university to achieve an honours degree.
