This course is for students aged 18 years and older.
If you have recently been in education, and aged 18 years and over, one of the following qualifications is required:
- A BTEC Level 3 qualification in IT
- At least one GCE A Level in a relevant subject at grade A-C OR
- More than one GCE A Level at grades C-E
- AND GCSE passes at grade A*-C
- Other related Level 3 qualifications
- An Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution
- Related work experience
Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector.
- Course content:
This course offers a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical skills development alongside the attainment of requisite knowledge and understanding. It provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the Computing and IT sector.
The course consists of the following mandatory units:

• Computer Systems
• Employability and Professional Development
• Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation

- Next step:
- Progress to employment in Systems Management, Installing or Managing IT Networks, or Software Development. Or progress to further study such as a degree or vendor qualifications offered by Cisco, Microsoft, IBM, CompTIA, Oracle and VM Ware.
