Course content:

This is an informal course - the main aim is to help you understand and speak the language from the start. The reading and writing you do is mainly to help you communicate well. You learn the grammar of the language by doing written exercises and using grammatical structures in everyday situations and speech. You may be able to do a fast track course, this is a one term intensive course and you would be expected to do some study at home. Ideally you should have studied a second language before. Revision and conversation courses go over the language and grammar learnt in the previous two terms; not suitable for absolute beginners.

Course Structure:

You learn, in groups of approx. 12-20 students, by working as a whole class for some of the time, but mainly by practising in pairs or small groups.
The tutor - who is nearly always a native speaker - teaches you new phrases until you are confident. Then you ask each other questions, act out situations and play games using the language you have just learnt. You are also learning something about the countries throughout the world where the language is spoken and about their peoples and cultures.
