The financial support which is available to you in September 2012 will be dependent on factors such as the course you are studying and your personal circumstances. This financial support will be provided Student Finance England.
Below is some information about the different types of financial support that may be accessed by students in September 2012.

Who can receive a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan?
The financial support from Student Finance England is dependent on whether the course is considered as full-time or part-time.
If you are 24 or older then you may be able to get a loan for a Level 4 course. Click here for more information.
Full-Time students may be entitled to the following;
- Tuition fee loan
- Maintenance loans
- Maintenance grants
- Special support grants
Part-Time students may be entitled to the following;
- Tuition fee loan
- Disabled Student Allowance
Tuition fee loan
A loan to cover the full cost of the tuition fee which is paid directly to college on your behalf. This loan does not depend on your household income and is fully repayable.
Maintenance loans
A loan to help cover the living costs associated with studying. This loan is paid directly to the student. This loan is dependent on household income and is fully repayable.
Maintenance grants
This grant is to help cover the living costs associated with studying. This grant is paid directly to the student. This grant is dependent on household income and does not have to be paid back.
Special support grants
This grant is to help cover extra course related costs such as books, equipment and travel. This grant is paid directly to the student. This grant is eligible to those who receive a means-tested benefit and does not have to be paid back.
Disabled Student Allowance
This allowance is to help meet the extra course costs that students face because of a disability. This allowance is paid directly to the supplier. This allowance is for equipment and support such as specialist software or non-medical helpers and does not have to be paid back.
How to apply for Student Finance?
- Application forms are available online from www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance
- Deadline for full-time students is 31st May 2012.
- Application forms for part-time students will be available from late summer 2012.
