South Thames' students create advertising campaign for The Care Ambassadors Scheme

16 July 2010 students at work A group of 35 students on an Art and Design course at South Thames College have been commissioned by The Care Ambassadors Scheme to create an advertising campaign to raise awareness for disabilities. The campaign is aimed at young people between the ages of 5 - 20 in order to promote social and health care and raise awareness.

The Care Ambassador scheme encourages good practise in health and social care, and promotes social care as an exciting career option, demonstrate the range of benefits available in the sector and showcase the variety of jobs and careers available.

The campaign was made up of a film animation and a billboard advertising campaign. Art and Design student Luma Sadriu said "I suffer from back pains myself which inspired me to create a campaign and deliver a message called ‘you can't always see the pain'. I hope the message I've produced will help and encourage people to step forward and get help."

The students produced high quality work which Care Ambassadors will host on their website. Luma gained a lot from the project saying "I learnt how to use new and industry standard software to create the ads which has undoubtedly improved my ability and skills".

Work based learning is built in to the curriculum and where possible, students have the chance to work with real clients to produce industry standard work, in order to build up their portfolios, and increase their confidence.
