Another 'Good' result for South Thames College
06 July 2012
Ofsted once again confirmed South Thames is a “GOOD” college making it one of the best colleges in the London region.
Ofsted commends the quality of both teaching and learning, and leadership and management at the college, and is complimentary about the good level of care, guidance and support provided. Both arrangements for the safety of learners and governance are judged as 'outstanding'.
Commenting on the report Principal, Sue Rimmer OBE said, “We are delighted with the outcome. We know we are a good college. We work tremendously hard to keep standards high and to have this formally validated by Ofsted for the second time is a real achievement."
“We have made significant investment in the quality of teaching and in our facilities which are now state of the art. Our students benefit from an outstanding learning environment within which to study, which enables them to succeed, progressing on to employment or higher level study.”
The report recognises also the highly effective partnerships with employers and other community organisations, and the College's responsiveness to local needs which is reflected in the wide and expanding range of courses offered.
In addition to new courses in hairdressing, plumbing and engineering which are being offered at the Merton Campus from September, a substantially increased range of higher education courses has been introduced at both main Campuses.
Ms Rimmer said, “It is our ongoing commitment to quality and the high expectations we have of both our staff and students that continues to make us one of London’s most successful colleges.”
