Awards Night sets the Standard for Student Achievement
Over 50 students from the School of International Business came to South Thames College’s Higher Education Awards.
BA Business students explore Cumbria
20 BA students travelled to the Lake District for their residential module at the University of Cumbria. The students were in the final stage of their Business and Management degree studies. During the intensive 5 days, they attended lectures on sustainability in business, with key themes of People, Planet and Profit.
They also met speakers from the local business community, and took part in leadership and team-building sessions as well as outdoor activities in the outstanding natural landscape of the UK’s premier national park. Their feedback: ‘excellent – enjoyed every minute!’
High Standards on the EDSML inspection
"This is one of the best reports I have read”, commented Janet Smith, Deputy Principal, Curriculum and Quality, about the External Examiner report on the Edexcel Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership at STC. The Examiner reported that assessment was innovative and challenging.
"Tutorial and pastoral support is good….South Thames College is a friendly centre, and staff show great empathy towards the students. Morale is high, and it is clear that staff love their work and are keen to ensure students enjoy their study experience. The college has spacious teaching rooms .... The ICT facilities are very good with industry standard hardware and software.”
This excellent feedback came at the end of a very successful year for this STC post-graduate programme. Many of our students progressed to the MBA final stages at STC (accredited by University of Cumbria).
HE workshops and HE Study Centre prove popular
HE Workshops are available to students in our School of International Business. These workshops provide students with additional support on key skills such as Harvard Referencing, Academic Writing, Research Skills, Debating and Presentation Skills.
The HE Study Centre (HESC) is a professional, quiet and productive place to study. In addition to computing facilities, there is an area where students can work independently or in groups. You will have group tasks or assignments to complete for your studies, and the HE Study Centre is the perfect place to meet up with your classmates to work on group projects.
Congratulations to our first class student!
STC is proud to announce that Mateja Osonjacki has been awarded a 1st Class Honours Degree from the University of Cumbria. Mateja, from Croatia, studied the ABE Level 5 Higher Diploma in Business and Management before enrolling on the final stage of the BA (Hons) Business Management course. She achieved high grades in all modules. Whilst studying at South Thames, she was working in fashion jewellery and was able to draw from that experience in her choice of dissertation topic which focused on the effect of e-commerce on consumer behaviour in that sector.
Congratulations to STCL’s outstanding students!
A huge congratulations to the eight ABE students who were awarded ‘outstanding student’ certificates in recognition of their academic success. Awards were given to the student that achieved the highest grade in each subject area.
Georgette Davey, Director of International & Higher Education, said, ‘We are delighted to present these awards in recognition of the success and hard work of these STC students.’
