Training our new member of staff via an Apprenticeship at South Thames College seemed like the most cost effective route and was the best option for funding available. We chose South Thames College because of its good reputation, track record for results and the proximity to the practice. The relationship with the College has been very good and flexible, we particularly like that the course hours are not disruptive on our Apprentice’s working hours and the work based observations have been very discreet and not intrusive at all on our practice or patients. Since starting the apprenticeship we’ve noticed our Apprentice has grown hugely in confidence and the course has been a huge underpinning of her knowledge which would take time/resources that we don’t have the time to do. We’re also happy that English and Maths are incorporated into the Apprenticeship framework which means that students can get increased confidence and brush up on key skills. We would definitely recommend other employers going down the Apprenticeship route with South Thames College. We get constant feedback about how our apprentice is doing and we have a good working relationship with the College.
