"Outstanding" ESOL
South Thames College is the largest provider of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses in south west London. We help over 2000 students to improve their English each year. Our ESOL department has been judged "outstanding" by Ofsted in its recent inspection of the College.
ESOL courses are for people living permanently in the UK, including refugees and asylum seekers receiving benefits.
Our flexible courses are offered at 5 levels from beginners to advanced. You can study at the College centre which is most convenient for you: Merton, Tooting, Roehampton or Wandsworth.
ESOL courses at South Thames include English for life in the UK and citizenship.
You can use computers on our courses to help you improve your English.
Our courses prepare you for studying other subjects such as Childcare, Media, Beauty, Sport, Hairdressing, Caring, Computer Programming, Business or Administration.
We run classes for parents in primary schools and other community venues. We can arrange classes in the workplace and training for employers.

Students fearing financial hardship with the death of the EMA are being protected with the launch of a Student Benefit Package at South Thames College. The package is tailored to students’ needs will replace the EMA when is phased out next year. This will help eligible students to fund expenses like food, travel, books, equipment and study materials. There are separate packages available to both 16-18 and 19+ year olds.
