ADTE(E)LLS Additional Diploma in Teaching English (ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Cambridge Level 5 qualification
Suitable for Teachers who are already employed teaching ESOL in the Lifelong Learning Sector and who have a generic PGCE or equivalent, or who are taking the DTLLS course in parallel Entry requirements… Acceptance on to the course is dependent upon application and interview in all cases. CELTA or CTEFLA or Trinity equivalent qualification (with or without PTLLS) An ESOL teaching post that will enable them to log 75 hours of teaching at 2 distinct levels during the period of the course (Entry levels + Level 1 or 2) English at level 3 (this will be evaluated at interview) A standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education (degree preferred).
Where and when… The next ADTE(E)LLS course is scheduled to start in Autumn 2012 finishing in June 2013.
What’s involved… 3 formal assessed observations throughout the course (possibly more if re-observations are required) Production of a portfolio that contains evidence of 75 hours of teaching at two levels, assessed lesson plans with self evaluations and tutor feedback, course record booklet and assignments. Completion of assignments on Literacy, ESOL support, Assessment and Planning, Theoretical Frameworks and Language Skills. External exam – Knowledge about Language Language Research and Presentation Observation of other teachers both in ESOL and in other disciplines
