Entry requirements:
This course is for students 19 years old and over.

Level 2 standard in Violin Making and Repair and four GCSE passes are required, although this may be waived for mature students and those with relevant practical experience.

Course content:

This course is for those who wish to learn the advanced skills involved in making and repairing instruments of the violin family.


The Level 3 follows on from the Level 1 and 2 courses and teaches the more advanced skills building on the knowledge already gained.

Merton campus is one of only four centres in the country offering this specialist provision. Workshops were opened in March 2010 so students can now benefit from spacious workshops and fantastic equipment in order to be ready for work in this fascinating industry

Attendance is two days per week.

Fully equipped specialist workshops. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This includes free internet access.

Next step:
Students may proceed on to a degree course or go into the musical instrument repair trade. Many previous students have become self employed.
