Entry requirements:
Please note all students wishing to take this course need to be 19 years or older at the time of enrolment Level 2 qualifications are normally required with GCSE's GCE 'O' Levels, NVQ's, GNVQ Level 2 or equivalent. Relevant work experience is an asset.
Course content:
Please note: ACCESS Certificate is the equivalent to 2 passes at GCE Advanced level.
Core subjects include: Biology, Chemistry, Study Skills, Health Studies, English, Maths, Data Handling.
You may be able to choose to specialise in one of the following 3 pathways:
Nursing, Midwifery and Complimentary Medicine, Nutrition and Paramedics;
Nutrition & Complementary Medicine;
Application of Science.

A pre-ACCESS to Health Sciences course is also available to students who have insufficient qualifications at level 2.
Course Structure:
This is a credit based course and each piece of coursework or examination you achieve gains you a credit until you reach the required total and have covered the necessary subjects.
Many approaches to learning are used including individual and small/large group work. Academic and tutorial support is given throughout the course. The course is divided into two semesters: September to early February and February to end of June.
Course resources:
All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.
Assessment:
Continuous assessment (essays, exams, assignments and presentations).

Fees Info
The fee where stated is an 'INCLUSIVE FEE' for UK/EU students. This fee includes the tuition fee, examination fee and exam board registration fee. You may have to pay extra for materials for the course. If you are under 19 years or you are in receipt of an income related benefit the course and exam fee is FREE. Students aged 60+ years pay 70% of this fee. Students aged 19+ will also have to pay a College Registration Fee of £30 once per academic year.
Materials costs:
Students should provide folders and paper for coursework.
