Students are required to have basic computer and digital camera usage skills.
An informal discussion of students’ existing photographic and computer skills is held in the first lesson. This helps the tutor to meet individual students’ educational needs during the course.
Course content:
An introductory course in image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop Elements. To enhance photographs from basic to intermediate level.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
1) Identify and open up photographic files in Adobe Photoshop Elements to work on. To save photographs into prepared folders on the computer.
2) Remove blemishes and other objects using the Clone tool.
3) Use a variety of selection tools to copy objects from one photograph to another and from one layer to another.
4) Use the Levels controls to alter the contrast of photographs.
5) Merge several photographs together to create panoramic scenes.
6) Create greeting cards by using photographs and letters together.
7) Save photographs using a variety of file formats.
8) Burn photographs onto CDs.
9) Attach photographs to email messages.
Course Structure:
1) How Adobe Photoshop Elements can help a photographer.
2) Opening and saving photographs in Adobe Photoshop Elements.
3) Using the Clone tool to remove objects in photographs.
4) Using selection tools to alter and copy objects. Using Layers.
5) Merging several photographs together to create panoramic scenes and bracketed exposure shots.
6) Using the Levels controls to alter the contrast of photographs.
7) Altering colours and tinting black and white photographs. 9) Saving photographs in a variety of file formats for different uses.
10) Burning photographs onto CDs.
11) Attaching photographs to email messages and preparing photographs for printing.
Course resources:
Computers and Adobe Photoshop Elements software programme. Students are required to bring their own camera, memory cards, accessories and instruction manuals.
Assessment:
Group and one to one tuition. Constructive advice and problem solving of students’ own work.

Fees Info
When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
  • Fee 1: Standard fee;
  • Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
    Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
    You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
    You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.
    Materials costs:
    To be discussed by the tutor in the first lesson for any photographic inkjet paper. Students are required to supply their own memory cards.
