The sports and leisure industry is one of the fastest growing in the economy. Current projections are that 100,000 jobs will be needed by 2014, with an additional 86,000 volunteers needed to stage the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The industry spans over 200 job roles covering fitness instructors, equipment supply, stadium or activity centre management, ground keepers and play workers.

South Thames College celebrates over 25 years of Crafts in the Community for the over 60's
If ever there was proof that you're never too old to learn something new, this inspirational group of over 60's are it. For the past 25 (or is it 26?) years, South Thames College has provided a Crafts course in Rambler's Close sheltered housing development close to Tooting Bec Lido. The course is designed for the over 60's and has become a big part of the lives of the local ladies who attend. Many have been coming for years, with the record for longest attendance held by Renée Garner who has been coming for 18 years!

South Thames College and Merton College are pleased to announce that a merger between the two colleges has now been approved and will be effective from 1 August 2009.
