Introduction
You will learn a variety of textile techniques such as micro- macramé, knotting, spinning cord and stitching to make individual braids and buttons. The braids and some of the buttons can be made into items of jewellery or used as fashion or interiors trimmings .
You will also learn how to incorporate beads with these techniques.

A course designed to introduce beginner knitters to the range of basic techniques, along with an introduction to the fundamentals of knitwear design. Students will choose a design project to create on the course. They will learn key knitting techniques, along with the skills to work independently and creatively.

Have you been knitting for some time and want to be more creative with it, have you just started knitting, or have you long been meaning to start? This course is designed to cover all aspects of basic knitting – casting on and off, increasing and decreasing stitches, as well as a basic range of stitches - but also teaches you the building blocks of designing your own knitwear. This free taster will look at some of the key elements of knitwear and outline the options for what you can make over this 11 week long course.

This course will give you the opportunity to learn stitches and techniques to produce quilts. You will learn among others techniques for the traditional hexagon patchwork design, paper and fabric piecing, appliqué patch as well as choice of colour for effective design.
The course will involve both hand and machine patchwork and students will have the opportunity to use the sewing machine.

This course will teach you the basics of dart manipulation as well as slashing and spreading, which will allow you to manipulate basic bodices, skirts and sleeves. These techniques will enable you to transform already existing patterns to a style which suits you.
The accurate taking of body measurements and pattern landmarks will also be included in this short course.
This 5 or 6-week course is an excellent preparation for the personalised pattern cutting course which will commence in September

You will create basic blocks for bodices, sleeves, skirts, dresses shirts and trousers
For those who have already developed their own blocks, the opportunity will be given to create their own design ideas and adapt basic blocks into garments based on the ideas developed.
