Introduction
An introduction to the basic principles of interior design for the absolute beginner. This course is designed to clarify and explain the work of an interior designer. You will learn about other specialists in the field and their relationship to the interior design world. It will help you to decide whether or not you want to pursue interior design professionally, for personal interest or to train in the industry.
An introduction to all aspects of designing a unique living space. The principles examined are storyboarding, briefing, sourcing, lighting, accessorising, colour scheming, planning, costing and project management.

This course will enable learners to develop chosen themes and ideas while experimenting and exploring freestyle machine embroidery and hand sewn techniques, and commercial colouring techniques. Using applied colouring materials and techniques and a combination of decorative, textural and manipulative stitch techniques, the learner will create a range of stitched samples and design ideas for further development, at a later date. The emphasis on the course is to experiment with new design ideas, innovative techniques and use new commercial products used by practicing professionals in the creative industries and to re-examine a growing trend in textile design.

This is a two hour taster to find out what a Home Interiors course is about. You will look at some completed interior design projects and complete at least one basic practical task.

Students will learn skills to complete small projects in lead, copper foil and glass appliqué techniques. Students will make a small lead panel, a decoration or lightcatcher using copper foil and a mirror or decorative tile in glass appliqué.
