Working at STC
Introduction
South Thames College values its staff. We understand the need to provide a supportive environment to enable them to deliver the best possible education and training to our students.
Staff Development
South Thames College's performance management scheme is popular with staff as a formal way of recording their continuous improvement and development. Each staff member has a personal/professional development plan and there is a range of opportunities for individual staff development.
Generous annual leave entitlements
Support staff are entitled to 31 days and main grade lecturers to 47, in addition to all Bank and Public Holidays normally observed in England and Wales.
Work-life balance
In addition to annual leave there is provision for special leave if staff have particular domestic and personal needs. Departments may be able to be flexible about working patterns to help staff combine work with responsibilities at home. Many of our staff joined us on a part-time basis and then became full-time or vice versa.
Final salary pension schemes
All employees are entitled to belong to the Teachers Pension Scheme http://www.teacherspensions.co.uk/ or the Local Government Pension Scheme http://www.yourpension.org.uk/ . You pay between 5.5% and 7.5% and the College pays 19.5% for support staff and 14.1% for teaching staff.
Interest-free season ticket loan
Salaried staff can apply to the College for an interest-free season ticket loan
