Foundation Degrees
Foundation Degrees are higher education qualifications that combine academic study with workplace learning. They have been designed jointly by universities, colleges and employers, and are available in a range of work-related subjects.
They equip you with the skills and knowledge that businesses are looking for, and offer a route into higher education for a wide range of students from many different backgrounds.
How long?
The qualification is broadly equivalent to the first two years of a "traditional" bachelors (such as BA or BSc) degree. It can lead straight to a job, or prepare you for developing your professional skills in the future.
It normally takes two years to complete a Foundation Degree full time, or three to four years part time.
If you then want to study further, usually you can "top up" to a bachelor's degree, with a further 12-15 months study, either when you finish your Foundation Degree or some years later when you have had a break from studying.
You choose what you want, to fit in with the rest of your life.
How you are assessed?
Different Foundation Degree courses will assess you in different ways. Most involve a mixture of exams and coursework, plus assessment of the learning you do in the workplace. Some ask you for a written dissertation that you produce at the end of the course.
We offer the following Foundation Degrees:

Working in a specific field has really helped and directing for a specific company was like real work." Sandra Munoz-Alvarez, HNC Media
