Civil Enforcement Academy
South Thames College created the Civil Enforcement Academy to deliver specialist training and skills assessment for parking managers and supervisors, civil enforcement officers and back office personnel involved in parking and enforcement. The academy provides qualifications for parking enforcement, training in notice processing and skills development in fields such as team leadership and customer care, using nationally recognised programmes such as Welcome All and Welcome Host.
The College is already undertaking assessments of Civil Enforcement Officers working for national contractors such as VINCI Park, which has been working with the College for some time.
The Academy's assessors for parking control are former police officers. They have skill sets and experience to offer CEOs real guidance and help, rather than merely observing performance. For example, they will explain the ways in which CEOs can avoid getting into conflict with the public by preventing potentially awkward situations escalating.
With the Level 2 in Controlling Parking Areas we can offer progressive training packages for:
Car park attendants
CCTV Enforcement officers
Vehicle Immobilisers and Removers
Civil Enforcement Officers
For back-room administration staff we offer a bespoke package for the Level 3 Award in Notice Processing.
We also offer:
Level 2 in Providing Security Services
Level 2 in Spectator Safety
Short courses in Conflict Management and Counter Terrorism Awareness

Inside View
Dental Nurse Apprenticeship
"I knew I would have to study for a qualification alongside work and I liked that the apprenticeship was flexible and it was packed into one intense session one day a week, rather than splitting learning to smaller sessions throughout the week. Prior to training to become a dental nurse I was studying at the Brit School but I wanted to do more of a job that would help people and make a difference. I found that Dental Nursing offered this career satisfaction and made a difference in how patients looked and felt. It’s a nice thing to be able to do for people. I have learnt so much on my apprenticeship for instance about orthodontics and braces; we learn procedures even if your own practice doesn’t do it. My confidence has increased a lot and every time I watch the dentist I can see what they’re going to be doing next and I can pre-empt what they might need. The apprenticeship has opened up the doors to more options and future possibilities."
