Three to five days per week. Courses are either in the morning or afternoon. You will get a timetable on your first days of studies

COURSE CONTENT

You will work on all language skills: grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, speaking & pronunciation.
Classes include preparation for progression assessment.
Support at every step before and during your studies with us.
Self-study material, including audio & video, and internet / E-mail in our Learning Resource Centre.


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Conditional Offer for academic course at South Thames College

3 months: IELTS score of 5.5 (with minimum 5.0 in each section) or equivalent
6 months: IELTS score of 5.0 (with minimum 4.5 in each section) or equivalent


PROGRESSION

You prepare for a mandatory assessment.

You progress to South Thames College's undergraduate or postgraduate course if you pass the progression assessment.

Only students who pass this exam can progress to the academic programme.

If you do not pass the assessment, you must continue pre-sessional English until you do.


Progression Criteria

To progress to your undergraduate or postgraduate programme, you must have:

• minimum 90% attendance lower % only accepted if acceptable documents to confirm reason provided, eg doctor's certificate for illness)
• satisfactory report from class tutor, including on classwork, homework/assignments and punctuality
• achievement of level of English that is assessed by STCL as being appropriate for advanced academic study (approximate to CEFR level C1 / ALTE level 4 / IELTS 6.0)
