Higher Education
Higher Education (HE) is a term used to describe university level qualifications, for example Degrees, Foundation Degrees and Higher National Certificates. We are proud to offer a range of these types of courses at South Thames College and think you'll really benefit from the way we do things. Read on to find out why Higher Education at South Thames College will really shape your future!
Diverse student body
Not everyone goes on to Higher Education straight from school at 18. At South Thames College, we specialise in dealing with students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Many of our students are returning to education after many years or join our HE courses via one of our ACCESS courses. We have the experience and flexibility to deliver tailored learning solutions to cater for your needs.
Tailored to your needs
Class sizes are typically quite small, especially compared to universities where you may have lectures with more than a hundred people. This allows us to get to know you better and ensure you get the support you need. It also means you have more input into the course delivery and are much more than just another face in the crowd.
If you study business or ICT with us, you will be based at our dedicated adult site at Tooting where facilities have recently been upgraded to ensure the best possible experience for our students.
Partner Universities
You can be sure that the quality of teaching you receive is of the highest standard. Most of our staff are educated to masters level or above. We work with partner universities such as Kingston University, London South Bank University, Christ Church Canterbury University and these associations ensure high academic standards so our provision can hold its own against other Higher Education providers all over the country. This also has other advantages for you as you can benefit from the facilities offered by your partner university, things like libraries, IT resources and some sports facilities.
Wide range of courses
We offer a wide range of courses in a number of areas based on government and industry priorities, so you will not leave us with a qualification that doesn't lead anywhere in particular. Course areas include Business and Administration, Finance and Professional studies, ICT, Music, Media, Construction, Health and Social Care.
