Are you eligible?
To become an Apprentice, you need to:
- Be in full time employment in a relevant sector
- Be lawfully entitled to work in the UK
- Not hold a Level 4 or higher qualification e.g. if you have completed a foundation degree, you cannot become an Apprentice.
There is no age restriction on Apprenticeships.
If you do not meet the above criteria, and want to work towards a career in a particular industry, take a look at our range of full time and part time courses. Students on non-apprenticeship courses sometimes find employment on the Apprenticeship scheme following completion of a relevant qualification.

"I am very satisfied with the progress each of our apprentice electricians have made since they joined South Thames College.
Operational Services has a tradition of employing apprentices and has benefited over the years from these students progressing as far as senior managment within the organisation. Being able to demonstrate to clients that we are committed to apprenticeships benefits our business as it shows our continuing efforts to improve the technical ability of our operatives and raise the skills levels of the workforce.
Our trainees have a greater technical understanding of their trade. The benefit of working in the college environment and also out 'on the tools' gives the apprentices a wide variety of practical experiences." Technical Services Department, Wandsworth Council
