      <title>Motorcycle student on the road to a professional racing career</title>
      <description>17 year old South Thames College student Kaz Hashmi is set for a sparkling career as a professional Motorcycle racer. Last year Kaz travelled across Europe finishing 8th place in the European Junior Cup. Alongside his gruelling training schedule and time spent competing in international races, Kaz is also studying full-time at South Thames College’s Merton Campus on a Motorcycle Maintenance course. His dream for 2012 is to finish top five in the championship, and go on to become a professional racer. </description>

Ricardo is currently studying on a Work Preparation course at the College, which is designed to support students with learning difficulties.       <title>MBA students celebrate their graduation ceremony at the University of Cumbria</title>
      <description>Nine students who graduated from their MBA courses at STC in 2011 travelled to the University of Cumbria for their official degree ceremony. They were awarded their certificates alongside many other students from the University, and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with the tutors that they met with during the residential programme. Several students were joined by their families, who stayed in Cumbria for a few extra days vacation in order to make the most of the beautiful countryside surrounding the campus.</description>

      <title>Healthy Eating Week at South Thames College</title>
      <description>Haleema Mustafa and her tutor group BTEC Health and Social Care Level 2 Group A in collaboration with the Enrichment team celebrated Healthy Eating Week by preparing a delicious spread of tasty food and drinks with a healthy theme. There were delicious fruit smoothies made from strawberries, blueberries, kiwi fruit, oranges, etc. crispbreads and vegetable sticks with dips, popcorn and fruit.

The students were available to give advice and answer questions about adopting healthy eating habits and were knowledgeable about nutritional values and content of their wares. The students were also confident in taking the BMI scores of passers by and offering appropriate advice.

The students were confident and poised and the event was hugely successful.</description>

      <title>Higher Education Guest Speaker Sessions</title>
      <description>This term the School of International Business held a series of guest speaker sessions for their students. Higher Education (HE) students were given the opportunity to listen to experts in their field talk about their career success and how to get ahead in the business world. The events covered a range of topics from: Managing a Growing Business to B2B Marketing and How to be a Market Leader. The sessions were relevant to current learning topics and gave students a chance to sign up to the brand new HE Study Centre, equipped with computers and a quiet study area. The sessions were held in the impressive new lecture theatres that were completed in September 2010.</description>

      <description>15 of South Thames College students have been offered an opportunity to perform alongside internationally recognised band, The Alabama 3.

17 year old Music Technology student Dean O’Leary (also known as Major Dee) has written a song titled South of the Bridge which has been incorporated into a track by The Alabama 3 who are famous for creating the Soprano’s theme tune Woke Up This Morning.</description>

      <title>Prince’s Trust Team Bring Cheer to Veterans Hostel</title>
      <description>A veterans hostel in London is getting a festive makeover thanks to volunteers from The Prince’s Trust students at South Thames College.
 
Veterans Aid, the leading charity for ex-Servicemen and women in crisis, welcomed the ten young people to its New Belvedere House premises in Stepney where they decorated communal areas and put up Christmas trees in the 57-room hostel.

      <description>Around 600 students came along to meet the experts from 15 universities at the Merton Campus HE Fair on October 5th. We were very pleased to welcome Oxford University for their first time to the Fair and they are looking forward to working with us in the future. As ever, our local universities, Kingston, London South Bank and Middlesex  had lots of enquiries about nursing; Portsmouth and Brunel also fielded students questions about engineering and business; and  the ducks from Roehampton University proved very popular with our students!

His CV also boasts playing on Jessie J’s first ever UK tour and supporting American star Alexis Jordan. Throughout his career Nathaniel has been fortunate enough to rub shoulders with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Example, Yasmin, Ms Dynamite and Ed Sheeran. </description>

      <title>South Thames College welcomes Tooting Triplets</title>
      <description>Triplets, Emily, Sophia and Stephen Martins started at South Thames College this September, joining us from Richmond Park Academy in Shene. All three agreed that they wanted to find a College that they could all attend. The three are very close and like to be around to look out for each other and help each other out.  They decided on South Thames College as it offered a broad range of courses, and they got a really good impression of the atmosphere at the College when they came to an Open Day in the summer. </description>
