      <title>Students vie for top spot in battle of the bands competition</title>
      <description>This week South Thames College will be hosting a regional ‘battle of the bands’ competition run by World Skills UK. The College will welcome twelve bands from across the south of England to its Wandsworth Campus for what proves to be a noisy and exciting day. This is the second consecutive year the College has hosted the competitions.</description>

      <title>South Thames students selected as Olympic Tennis Ball girls and boys</title>
      <description>Six excited students from South Thames College have been chosen to be ball boys and girls at this summer’s Olympic Games. The Tennis events are being held at the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club. The students, aged sixteen to eighteen, took part in the tennis trials which were run as part of London Organisation Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games’ (LOCOG’s) Young Games Maker Programme. </description>

      <title>Music students get a taste for life as a Roadie</title>
      <description>Twenty-one Music Technology students from South Thames College have just returned from a UK tour. The students played at Colleges in Liverpool, Manchester and Nottingham as part of the four day trip. This was the third year that students from the Music department have hit the road following two consecutive years of this hugely successful venture. This time the students played and performed songs they wrote themselves. </description>

      <title>South Thames students celebrate completing community project</title>
      <description>A group of students with learning disabilities at South Thames College, Wandsworth Campus are today celebrating completing a series of ‘community and citizenship’ workshops which have seen them raise over £400 for Battersea Cats and Dogs Home. The group has been taking part in a new project called Inspire Me, set up by Mencap and ENABLE Scotland to support 20,000 young people with a learning disability aged 16-25 across the UK. Inspire Me is funded by The Co-operative Charity of the Year partnership which has raised over £7 million for young people with a learning disability.</description>

      <title>Students get stuck in to primary school volunteering project</title>
      <description>Over fifty students from South Thames College have volunteered to create an outdoor learning area for children at Park Hill Infant School in Croydon. This week, the College students will be digging an area the size of a tennis court. They will start by digging out the ground, then laying a plastic lining, before filling it up with woodchips.

      <description>17 year old South Thames College student Kaz Hashmi is set for a sparkling career as a professional Motorcycle racer. Last year Kaz travelled across Europe finishing 8th place in the European Junior Cup. Alongside his gruelling training schedule and time spent competing in international races, Kaz is also studying full-time at South Thames College’s Merton Campus on a Motorcycle Maintenance course. His dream for 2012 is to finish top five in the championship, and go on to become a professional racer. </description>

      <description>Nine students who graduated from their MBA courses at STC in 2011 travelled to the University of Cumbria for their official degree ceremony. They were awarded their certificates alongside many other students from the University, and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with the tutors that they met with during the residential programme. Several students were joined by their families, who stayed in Cumbria for a few extra days vacation in order to make the most of the beautiful countryside surrounding the campus.</description>
