A-levels aren't the only option if you are looking for a route to university. Did you know that you’re more likely to achieve higher UCAS points by taking a BTEC than if you take A-levels? In fact, the difference could be as much as 100 extra UCAS points.

BTECs are the equivalent of three A-levels and can get you into university. Some of our BTEC graduates have progressed straight into the UK's top universities including Russell Group.

We offer the following advanced level courses for school leavers, all are equivalent to 3 A-levels:

Jamal Cole-Dickson, BTEC Extended Diploma General Engineering. Currently studying Product Design at Leeds.

"I always wanted to go to uni and actually half of my class here at Leeds University got in on BTECs and you can see the difference between us and the people who did A-levels. So my BTEC gave me a really good overview and helped me understand the whole course. My dad went to UCL and my mum went to Brunel so the expectation was that I would go to a good university too – more people understand now that you don’t need A-levels to get into a good university."

Danny Aryani

BTEC Electronic Engineering

"I did a lot of research into which college I should study at and South Thames really stood out. The teachers are from the industry so really know what they are talking about - I’ve just been accepted to study at Brunel University and the university team was really impressed with the subjects I’ve already covered at college. I really think South Thames has given me a great foundation and taught me a lot of valuable skills which I’ll be able to transfer to my degree, then work."
