Learn to create beautifully decorated cakes on this course. You'll discover a range of techniques for decorating different types of cake from cupcakes to larger, more challenging cakes. This includes learning how to select and use different types of equipment.
Examples of topics you may cover:
- Preparing and coating cakes using icing and piping
- Carving and shaping cakes
- Using food colouring and glitter decorations
- Making wired ornaments such as lettering, butterflies and flowers
- Creating sugar-paste figures for novelty cakes.
Your tutor will demonstrate different techniques, and you'll take part in practical work individually and as part of a group.
Your tutor will advise you on any materials you need to buy when you come in for your first class. This might include items like a rolling pin, sugar-paste and small items of equipment.
