A plumbing apprenticeship is a great way to gain the practical skills and real-world experience you need to start your career. You'll learn essential theory through days spent at College and put this into practice during on-the-job training that will develop your confidence and look great on your CV.
You'll pick up key transferable skills and get an insight into areas like:
- Pipework and fabrication techniques
- Domestic hot and cold water installation
- Maintenance techniques
- Health and safety.
You'll also learn about employer rights and responsibilities and study functional skills in maths, English and IT. You'll leave the course with a qualification in Building Services.
As this is a work-based qualification you'll be assessed through a mixture of classroom and workplace observation, portfolio building and online exams.
To become an apprentice with us, you need to:
- Have four GCSEs grades A*-B, including maths and English, or their equivalent
- Be 16 or older
- Be legally allowed to work in the UK
- Have lived in the UK for the last three years
- Have no qualifications at Level 4 or higher eg a HNC.
You may need to invest in specialist workwear appropriate to an office environment or working on site. Our team will discuss this with you and any items you need for college.
You could go straight into work after your apprenticeship we have contacts with many local employers so we often know when a job is available. And many apprentices stay on with the company they were apprenticed to. You'll be able to talk to your apprenticeship advisor about the options available to you.
