With an electrotechnical apprenticeship you'll gain real-world experience in a range of different sectors including engineering, construction, IT and building services. This is an advanced apprenticeship.
Some of the topics you'll study are:
- Planning and design of electrical systems
- Installation, testing and maintenance of electrical systems
- Relevant legislation
- Health and safety.
You'll also learn about employer rights and responsibilities and study functional skills in maths, English and IT. You'll leave with a Level 3 Diploma in electrotechnical installation if you complete your apprenticeship successfully.
The name of the course, as it appears on your qualification or certificate, will be Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship
A mixture of workplace observation and college-based observation, portfolio building and online exams.
To become an electrotechnical apprentice with us, you must:
- Have a related Level 2 course or have current work experience
- Be 16 or older
- Be legally allowed to work in the UK
- Have lived in the UK for the last three years
- Have no qualifications at Level 4 or higher eg a HNC.
You could go straight into work after your apprenticeship - we have contacts with many local employers so we often know when a job is available. Many of our apprentices stay on with the company they were apprenticed to. You'll be able to talk to your apprenticeship assessor about the options available to you.
