This advanced apprenticeship in civil engineering for technicians is ideal if you've already completed a related Level 2 course or have current work experience. You'll gain real-world experience on projects for established engineering companies. Previous apprentices have worked on high-profile projects such as Crossrail and Thames Tideway Tunnel. These are massive infrastructure projects and they'll give you a taste of the variety and complexity of tasks involved in major building works. A civil engineering apprenticeship can help you learn key transferable skills and get an insight into areas like:
- Design and planning of building and structures
- CAD (computer-assisted design)
- Relevant legislation

You'll also learn about employer rights and responsibilities and study functional skills in maths, English and IT. You'll leave with a Level 3 diploma in civil engineering for technicians if you complete the apprenticeship successfully.

As this is a work-based qualification you'll be assessed through a mixture of classroom and workplace observation, portfolio building and online exams.
To become an apprentice with us, you need to:
- Have four GCSEs grades A*-B, including maths and English, or their equivalent
- Be 16 or older
- Be legally allowed to work in the UK
- Have lived in the UK for the last three years
- Have no qualifications at Level 4 or higher eg a HNC.
You may need to invest in smart clothing or specialist workwear appropriate to an office environment or working on site. Our team will discuss this with you and any items you need for college.
