Languages and Writing

We can help you learn a new language from scratch or take your skills up a level. If you want to focus on the written word we'll teach you some useful tools to improve your writer's craft either for fun or publication.

When it comes to languages we all know that practice makes perfect. So being interactive in the computer-based language lab and Learning Resources Centre will really improve your listening, spoken and written language skills.

For languages you can choose a beginners course or gain a qualification up to post-graduate level. And there are plenty of languages on offer, including Arabic, Japanese, Portuguese and Russian.

If you're in business and need to improve your team's language skills we also provide training for employers.

We have introductory courses in creative writing, journalism and writing children's fiction. Practical exercises will encourage you to write, without the pressure of exams and assignments.

“The creative writing class gets my ideas flowing and lets me look at things in a different way. I really enjoy the writing – turning pictures into a story is really creative.
I would definitely recommend the course at South Thames to anyone, the teaching is second to none.”
