Extended Certificate in Information Technology Level 3

This course is designed for learners who are interested in an introduction to the study of IT alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses. Learners will develop a common core of IT knowledge and study areas such as managing and processing data to support business and using IT to communicate and share information.

    Four GCSEs grades A*-C (9-4) including English, Maths, IT and one other or a related full Level 2 qualification. A reference from previous school/college is required.

    When you achieve this course you could be able to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma or Extended diploma course. This course carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements for many relevant courses, this course also enables learners to develop knowledge and skills needed for entry-level roles related to IT. These could include vocational apprenticeship roles and trainee/entry-level roles, such as roles in administration, help desk support, help desk analysis, account management and customer service support.

  • Assessment Details


    You will be assessed through assignments, projects and a portfolio of work that you will build up over the duration of the course. Also you will be set an externally assess unit by the qualification awarding body. For your English and Math, you will have homework and exams. You will also need to undertake at least 35-hour mandatory work experience.
