You'll be introduced to some basic accounting principles, practices and terminology. Ideal for anyone interested in an introduction to small business accountancy and can then lead onto a qualification course if you wish.
By the end of this course you'll be able to explain basic accounting concepts including:
- Bookkeeping and accounting definitions
- The accounting equation
- Double entry
- Prepare a simple balance sheet
- Prepare simple accounts to record business transactions involving capital, assets and liabilities, stock, revenue and expenses.
Weekly classes covering different aspects of accountancy using practical examples. You'll need to attend every week and be prepared to do some work outside class to get the most from this course.
Completion of class work and homework.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
