If you've always wanted to try drawing but are lacking in confidence, this course is for you. The course will teach you a variety of techniques you can practise at home to create confident drawings. You'll be able to try out a range of techniques and use different materials to help you find your own style.
By the end of the course you'll be able to:
Use pencil and charcoal to produce a range of mark making effects
Draw with a degree of accuracy
Create a sense of perspective in your drawings
- Draw negative space.
Your teacher will give you feedback and advice. You'll work with your classmates to evaluate each other's work. You'll also complete an individual learning plan.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
You can progress to other art short courses at South Thames College. Previous students have found the course useful when preparing a portfolio for art school or college interviews.
