Our craft courses will teach you a range of creative skills you can use to start a small business making and selling your own unique products. They're also a great way to improve your dexterity, meet new people and develop an interest.
Learn the basics of hand knitting, then experiment and develop ideas or work from commercially produced patterns on this very design-led course.
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Knit in rows using at least two stitches
- Knit at least one cable stitch
- Increase and decrease stitches for shaping
- Join seams and use different finishing techniques
- Identify techniques and use technical language
- Design and make your own simple project
- Have the opportunity to share skills and ideas.
You'll work on a project of your own, with both individual and group guidance throughout the course. Weekly group demonstrations will introduce new techniques and you can work at your own pace.
There are no entry requirements.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
