Learn to use Adobes industry-standard desktop publishing software. This beginners course will help you to create magazine, brochure and poster layout designs for print and electronic publishing and much more.
This course is aimed at students who are already involved in graphic design or are thinking of a career change.
The course covers:
- Creating page layout designs using text, images and graphics
- Creating master pages, grids and style sheets
- Creating typography style effects and tables (with text and colour tints)
- Creating stationery
- Creating a magazine article and poster
- Creating PDF documents for electronic publishing
- Preparing images and graphics for print, websites and desktop publishing
There will be one-to-one tuition as well as group work to monitor your progress.
You'll need basic IT skills using either a PC or Mac. It's useful if you have some graphic design skills, but not essential.
Please bring your own memory stick to copy any project work in order to practice at home. If you bring along your own laptop computer with the same software, please ensure you have a mouse, as using the scroll panel will be too slow for you to keep up with the lessons.
You could further your design skills by taking another Adobe course in Illustrator, Photoshop or Dreamweaver. All these courses are helpful if you want to go on to work in design or online or print publishing.
All courses run subject to demand and the content listed here should be used as a guide only. Course content may vary according to a range of factors such as course duration, campus, teaching staff and requirements from awarding bodies. Check our course and fee guidelines for further details.
