This full-time course is an introduction to accounting methods and principles, giving you the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress to a career in accounting and finance. You'll get to develop your skills in financial administration, double entry-bookkeeping, basic costing principles and purchases, sales and general ledgers and learn computerised accounting.
You'll be assessed throughout the year through computer-based assessments.
You should be between 16-19 at the start of this course with:
- Maths and English GCSE grade A*-C / 9-4; OR
- Functional Skills Level 2; OR
- Other relevant qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis and will be discussed during your interview.

You'll need to join the AAT to take the AAT exams. AAT membership has plenty of benefits including access to essential e-learning resources, resources on career development, technical training, network meetings and a quarterly journal. There are a selection of books youll need for your studies. You can buy these from the college at a discounted rate. Your tutor will confirm costs with you when you start the course.
You can progress to the AAT Level 3 Diploma to boost your career potential.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
