If you've completed the Level 2 counselling programme, this course will prepare you for the next step in the development of your career as a counsellor. This programme combines the skills from the Level 2 programme with various theoretical approaches that underpin counselling and psychotherapy.
Important components of the course are:

- The role of diversity in counselling.
You'll be introduced to a wide variety of counselling theories and learn to develop your own way of integrating this theory with your skills to form your own creative way of working. You'll learn how to use clinical supervision to further your development as a counsellor.
The name of the course, as it appears on your qualification or certificate, will be Certificate in Counselling Studies
- Internal assessment (tutor led, self and peer assessment)
- External assessment (final exam).
You need to have completed our Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) Certificate Level 2 Counselling Skills course to apply for this course. Alternatively, you need to have completed another recognised Level 2 counselling course usually of 90 hours or more.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
You'll have a range of options for further study such as diploma, degree or masters levels. All of these qualify you to practise.
