This course is suitable for anyone who deals with babies or children, especially nursery carers or child minders who require an OFSTED qualification. HABC Level 3 qualification is intended for learners already working or preparing to work in the industry and it meets the requirements for paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014.
You'll study topics including:
Approach to an incident
Dealing with an unconscious casualty
Dealing with a non-breathing baby and child
Hypoxia e.g. choking
First aid kit contents and use
Burns and poison
Teacher feedback, individual learning plans, student and peer self-assessment, sharing of work in groups and partner work. This qualification is assessed by a formal exam which includes a practical demonstration and written/oral questioning.
Entry 3 English Language
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
