This course will build on your DIY experience and teach you more technical domestic plumbing skills you can use at home.
At the end of this course you'll be able to:
Repair minor leaks
Re-washer taps and float valves
Identify direct and indirect hot and cold systems
Identify basic heating controls
Isolate a radiator, drain down and remove for decoration and refit
- Repair bath, basin and kitchen sink traps.
Your tutor will give you feedback on your work and you'll fill in work sheets. You'll work with your classmates to evaluate each other's work and share ideas.
This is a practical, hands-on course in a workshop and some of the learning requires you to use hand tools. You'll need some previous experience of plumbing and repairs.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
You could enrol on another higher level plumbing course at the College to gain more experience and learn more advanced skills.
