English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
If English is your second language and you live in Britain permanently you will find our English courses helpful for your life, work or studying. We offer nationally recognised qualifications at six levels - from beginner, entry levels 1-3 and levels 1 and 2 - and you can choose to study in the daytime or the evening.
For advice please visit the campus you want to study at. When you visit us a teacher will test you to find out your English level and recommend the best course. When you arrive collect a ticket at reception, this ticket will give you the day and time for your test.
ESOL for under 19s
When you learn English with our experienced ESOL tutors you also study IT, citizenship and maths once a week to gain a numeracy qualification. At the end of the year you will take Trinity ESOL exams.
You study English five afternoons a week at our Wandsworth Campus. To keep your course interesting and fun you can also join in with enrichment activities, such as class outings, guest speakers and by using our sports facilities.
We always keep parents and carers up to date with your progress in reports and parents and carers evenings.
Atiqa Javid, ESOL
"When I came to the UK I spoke little English so decided to study ESOL. I have since progressed to entry level three and my English is improving every day. The teaching methods at South Thames are easy to follow and make the learning more straightforward, and my class is full of different nationalities so I’m also learning about different cultures from my new friends."
