Beauty Therapy - Level 3

Introduction

This course is ideal if you want to work as a supervisor or manager in the beauty industry.

We have plenty of professional suppliers delivering in-house, bespoke training on latest products and equipment, like Nails Inc and Grove Spa Collection. This is boosted by employers and salon owners giving demonstrations and talks on making it in the sector. You'll get plenty of work experience in our commercial salon and we also run trade tests for employers - in fact many of our previous students have moved to full-time and part-time work after this.

We run several internal competitions including the London Masters where we invite other London colleges in so that you compete against your peers - the judges are normally employers and industry specialists. There are also local and national competitions that you'll get involved with, including the prestigious WorldSkills which our students have entered several years in a row. It's a great way to learn and to be exposed to new experiences.

With our masterclasses throughout the year, you'll have the chance to build your skills and experience on top of your normal classes. This is your chance to pick up all the latest salon trends and make sure you're work-ready when you graduate. If you become one of our top-performing students, there's the added incentive of learning through our in-house graduate programme to boost your practical skills in a range of spa therapies.

You're encouraged to combine the course with at least two days a week in a salon. As well as daytime lessons you'll need to come into College one evening a week or on a Saturday. The course covers advanced aspects of beauty treatments including:

  • Electrical treatments for the face and body
  • Promotion of products or services
  • Massage therapy, including hot stone therapy and lymphatic drainage
  • Epilation
  • Aromatherapy.

Assessment

Continuous assessment by observation on paying clients, formal and informal online or written tests, written assignments and tests as well as building up a portfolio of your work.

Entry Requirements

A relevant Level 2 qualification at least at merit plus English and maths assessed by us to be at an appropriate level. You'll also have a practical skills assessment to make sure the course is a good match for you.

For international students, you will need an IELTS score of 5.5 (minimum 5.0 in each section) or equivalent. Find out more in the international pages.

Materials

Like all colleges, we provide specialist kits for hair and beauty courses so that you can work with them on your courses and use outside the College to give you more chance to practise and grow your skills. Depending on your circumstances, the cost varies and this will be assessed when you join the course. Our College discount means you can get high-quality products at reduced rates from our suppliers when you've successfully completed your course.

Next Steps

You could find work in a salon or spa in a supervisory capacity or continue with your beauty training at a higher level.
