This course is for students who want to develop their English skills and gain a qualification. The course will develop your grammar, communication skills and your writing in preparation for a Functional Skills exam.
The course will develop your language skills in preparation for a Functional Skills exam. You will develop your vocabulary and spelling and learn how to structure an essay. You will learn how to write longer texts using appropriate style and grammatically correct sentences.
You will have the opportunity to take an Edexcel English qualification at the end of the course
You will be given an initial assessment in your first class. This will include a piece of writing and a comprehension task. If the level of the class is appropriate for you, you will be invited to join the group.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
Your next step will be to progress to a higher level course at the children's centre or at the college
