Learn basic writing techniques to strengthen your written English. Being able to write well is an essential skill for many areas of work. This course will equip you with the knowledge you need to feel confident writing in a professional context and applying for jobs. It can also help you prepare for further training such as ESOL or GCSE.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Understand the difference between formal and informal written English
Use basic grammar, tenses, punctuation and spelling rules
Correct, edit and organise your writing
- Write an effective summary of your main points.
Your teacher will give you feedback and advice. You'll also complete an individual learning plan.
You should have a basic level of English with solid speaking, listening and reading skills. For example, Pre-ESOL Level E3, Pre-Cambridge English PET-FCE or equivalent experience. You don't need any formal qualifications.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
Depending on your course and circumstances, you may be able to get funding to help with materials fees. Please check with us when you come in for interview or enrolment.
Develop your writing further on our intermediate course, or take another English short course with us to gain experience in other areas. This course is a great way to strengthen your CV, so you could use it to write job applications or support your professional development. You may also be interested in studying towards a recognised English qualification such as ESOL or GCSE.
