Pilates is a series of exercises designed to improve muscle control, flexibility, strength, breathing technique and posture. This course will suit you if you already have some experience of Pilates.
By the end of the course you'll be able to:
Use exercises to improve your posture
Use exercises to improve alignment
Use diaphragm breathing techniques
Use exercises to improve core stability and strength
- Name the main muscle groups and parts of the skeleton.
This will be done via teacher feedback, individual learning plans, student and peer self-assessment, sharing of work in groups and partner work.
Before the course begins you'll be asked questions about your general health to make sure that the course is suitable for you. If you are pregnant we advise that you speak to your doctor before starting this course.
There may be materials you need to help with your studies. You'll either make a one-off payment for these when you enrol, or you'll buy them during the course. Your tutor will talk to you about this at interview or in your first class (if you don't need an interview).
You can move onto the same course the following term to develop your skills further. You may wish to carry on learning and practicing for many years and apply it to everyday life. It's also possible to practice with a group locally during the summer break.
