This is a Level 4 HNC course in Music, starting in September 2020. It is a BTEC qualification, which will offer the vocational skills needed for employment in the industry or for further study. This course runs for one year and students can progress onto an HND after successfully achieving the qualification of this degree level course.
This is an industry-led qualification: The industry organisation JAMES represents education matters for the Association of Professional Recording Services (APRS), the Music Producers Guild and the UK Screen Association. These are the recognised industry organisations representing the recording, music production, music technology and audio post-production for film industries.
The course will consist of 120 credits, 55 of which can be obtained at Level 5 which is excellent. There are a wide range of units to suit individual expectations and musical taste, from mandatory units to music business, performance, technology as well as live sound and film.
Assessment is continuous and this will take the form of homework, coursework, in-class assessment and reviews which will help to cement overall knowledge more quickly and expansively.
Full A levels; Extended Diplomas (BTEC, UAL, etc.), as well as a portfolio or/and industry experience.
All candidates to have English and maths at GCSE C/4 or above.
There will also be a written assessment.
There will be a materials cost of £75.
