Ideal if you want to take make your own guitar or learn about guitar repairs. You'll learn the skills in this you need for personal enjoyment though previous students have gone on to our more advanced courses and then moved into the profession.
Topics can include:
- Adjusting the set-up
- Replacing machine heads, nuts and bridges
- Repairing a broken headstock
- Selecting and using the right tools.
The tutor will give you feedback throughout your course.
None, though you'll need a sufficient level of English to understand as the tutor explains techniques. You'll also need a short interview with a tutor who will check the course is right for you. To guarantee a place, you should aim to book at least a month before the course starts.
There is a fee to cover some of the small items you'll use on the course, but you'll need to purchase and bring in most of your own materials. Your tutor will advise on this. You may also want to buy your own tools to practise at home - talk to your tutor for more information.
You could re-enrol on this course if you're still completing a guitar project or want to perfect your techniques. Previous students have moved onto more advanced courses, or gone into work in this area.
