You'll learn the specialist skills and techniques to make and repair your own violin. This practical course will give you a high level of hand skills to make your first instrument. You'll have the chance to follow your own ideas and interests to create a violin in a style of your choice.

- How to read drawings and mark out.
The tutor will give you feedback throughout your course.
You'll need a short interview with a tutor who will check the course is right for you. To guarantee a place, you should aim to book at least a month before the course starts.
There is a fee to cover some of the small items you'll use on the course, but you'll need to purchase and bring in most of your own materials. Your tutor will advise on this. You may also want to buy your own tools to practise at home - talk to your tutor for more information.
It could take you two years or more to complete an instrument depending on your experience and how quickly you pick up the skills needed. Because of this you might want to re-enrol on the course to finish your violin as previous students have done. We also offer advanced violin making and repair courses.
