Days of the week: You will be expected to attend for one afternoon a week (Mondays)
Part time study: Part-time study on this course will involve attending one afternoon class each week.
Work placements:
You need to complete an absolute minimum of 100 independent teaching hours over the duration of the Diploma/PGCE programme. This is usually split into a minimum of 40 hours in Year 1 and 60 hours in Year 2.
For the English specialist pathways, at least 50% of your teaching must be in either ESOL or Literacy. You must teach at two different levels.
For the Maths specialist pathways, at least 50% of your hours must be teaching mathematics or numeracy at two different levels.
It is your responsibility to ensure you have sufficient teaching hours to fulfil the requirements. We will help where we can.
Note that it is a requirement before teaching practice commences that you can produce evidence of your current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) status. Lecturers can provide guidance when dealing with your applications.
Timetables: Provision will run on Monday evenings (6-9.15) each week during term-time.
