Offering work-based learning opportunities for our students is vital in helping them develop the skills needed to succeed in the world of work. It is also a great opportunity for businesses to engage with local young talent and many of our students who have undertaken placements have gone on to secure employment with the company they worked in.

When organising a work experience placement for you we will carefully work with you to select the most appropriate candidate for your business needs. For example if you are working on a re brand, we will provide you with a student who has experience in working in in-design and can help you to reach your business goals.

  • Games Design

Whether you are looking to offer a work experience placement or would like to come into college and talk to students about your sector, we are always keen to work with businesses and our dedicated work experience team is on hand to guide you through the whole process.

You can offer student placements from as little as one week up to 45 days, depending on the sector you are in, what the student is studying and the skills you will find useful. If you’re not sure where to start, contact our work experience team. We can help you decide what you need and introduce you to suitable candidates.

What Employers have to say...

“Halifax has had a relationship with South Thames College for over 4 years now.  Myself and my team always enjoy attending the college to support students with employability skills training and I am always so encouraged as an employer to see such young talented people. Numayr, who was studying Business at South Thames College really stood out and I had a vacancy which he applied for, he passed the interview with flying colours and started with us. He has settled in well and is doing a great job.  I think the close link the college has with employers is so important and thanks to it I was able to fill my vacancy."

Colin Mackinnon, Senior Bank Manager @ Halifax Bank

"The projects we have worked on together so far have gone very well. South Thames College students have worked hard and proven themselves to be skilled and diligent on site. We’re confident that we are helping these students, particularly those who might be more at-risk of disengagement or less confident, progress in their construction career and develop themselves."

Tom Hague, Programme Director @ Volunteer It Yourself

"I have offered a number of placements to College learners ranging from social media management, to business development, and even running sports activities. I have always been keen to give young people the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence in a work setting. The partnership with the College has been a great support in developing my business presence, with us co-hosting a networking event for the Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce, and looking at more ideas for events in the future."

Marlon Commock, Founder & Managing Director @ McJones Group & Pulse Social

"A number of Chamber member businesses have hosted College learners for Work Placements, and worked on a number of very successful projects, such as the Fashion Show 2019 with Wandsworth Oasis, which resulted in winning the Innovation of The Year award at the Wandsworth Business Awards last year."

Steve Pinto, CEO, Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce
