Graduates are likely to earn 25% more than non-graduates and secure higher level jobs, so studying for a little bit longer really can pay off. So when you know you're ready for higher education, you just need to know: why choose South Thames College?
Dedicated support for you
Visit the higher education office or help desk in our HE Study Centre for advice about studying, careers or help with any other matters. The team runs weekly skills sessions including presenting information, preparing your submissions, CV writing and other group and one-to-one support.
Class sizes are typically much smaller than at university so you can build a closer relationship with your tutors and they can give you more individual attention to help you succeed. And it's not all work. Get involved in some of the social activities we run, join one of the sports teams or student union.
Local and affordable
We're the affordable alternative to university - our courses are competitively priced against universities to help you avoid debt. Our location in Wandsworth has great transport links and is an easy journey from central London making us an obvious choice if you're already living in London or the South East.
Teaching by industry specialists
Employers value the industry relevance of HNCs and HNDs and your tutors will use their own academic and industry experience to give you the practical skills you need to get ahead in your chosen field. You'll benefit from guest speakers, work visits and placements to bring a real understanding to your studies.
A qualification every step of the way
You can study for one, two or three years and at the end of each year you'll achieve an industry-recognised qualification with our HNCs, HNDs and foundation degrees. This flexibility means you can divide your time as you like - so study one year, then work, travel or get experience in the voluntary sector then come back and study with us again. Or, you can study for a year and leave with a valuable qualification and go straight into work. The choice is yours!
