A seasoned musical theatre actor visited the Wandsworth Campus to give performing arts students a talk of his experience on stage and behind the scenes.
Gavin Ashbarry has performed extensively in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Starlight Express, a production that needs the actors not only to be brilliant singers but to rollerskate as they sing and dance because each character is a train.

The search for stars got underway at South Thames College recently, with an event to rival Simon Cowell's famous television talent show. Forget Britain's Got Talent, it was students from the Merton Campus who took to the stage to show off the impressive skills they usually keep under wraps in the classroom.
The South Thames College talent show was the brainchild of business student Waqqas Ali, who decided to take charge of organising the event after hearing fellow students singing and playing instruments around the college. With help from a committee of four other students and the college's enrichment team, they scheduled auditions and rehearsals, produced promotional materials and sold tickets for the show.

South Thames College is launching new courses to increase its presence in the business and professional courses market. It capitalises on the many people who are looking to boost their prospects at work.
Run at the Wandsworth Campus, the university-level courses start this February and are available in areas like marketing, entrepreneurship, leadership, and teacher education.
